My latest encaustics....

I'm taking the workshop tomorrow!!!  Yippie!!!  While I'm at R&F, I'll be getting some raw materials to make my own medium (cheaper).  I had just a little left so I worked on these today. Both are 8"x8" on birch.  The first one has some oil stick and the second one has a shellac burn.

These are really nice! Thanks for your comment on my blog! I'm really excited about what I'm working on. I just took a few new pics of that piece today so take a look.

Thanks Sweetie. So glad you like them. I'll have to show them to you in person when you get home.

You're doing a lot of excitig work, Deb. Nothing can match the depth and luster you get with this process. I gave an award to a small abstract encaustic piece in a show last year over a bunch of watercolors, it really was the most interesting piece. (several watercolorists very angry about that one!) This is a very good size for these - it's in proportion to the textures and forms. But I'm curious how big you could/might go?

Hey Nick. Nice to see you. I can imagine all the watercolorists coming after you with a noose! LOL!

I live in a mobile home, so space here is limited. I suspect I could handle a 36x36 if I rearranged things a bit and kicked the cats out of the room. I do have some 12x12 boards cut and will be working with them over the next few weeks. I think next time I get wood, I'll cut some larger to give it a try. I'm amazed at the size of some I've seen online. I'd love to have the space to accommodate a huge piece. I saw one artist online who does them vertically. I expect that would be a huge challenge, but she does some really cool work. As always, thanks for stopping by.
